It's finally here ... Dexcom G6

In March, 2018, the FDA approved Dexcom’s newest continuous glucose monitor, the G6. The G6 is set to eliminate many of the difficulties that affected Dexcom’s previous sensors. Firstly, the Dexcom G6 no longer requires fingerstick calibration and will begin reading the wearer’s blood sugar without first prompting a blood sugar input. Additionally, the G6 comes with an entirely new insertion set that is both easier to use and far less intimidating. Perhaps the best updated feature is the extended sensor session. The G6 now lasts a full ten days as opposed the the G5’s seven days. I am excited to receive the G6 and I look forward to reporting back on its accuracy and ease of use - I hope to have it sometime this Fall!
