Fasten Your Seat Belt
Recently while flying home from a foreign country, I encountered difficulty getting my diabetes supplies past the airport security. The security officers refused to let me board the plane with my juice boxes (the ones I use for emergency sugar) because they were over the size limit. Usually, I carry a doctor’s letter stating that I am permitted to fly with the juice however, I had left it at home this trip because I never had supplies taken away before. Ultimately, I had to leave my juice boxes with the security and fly without a safe amount of sugar. The important lesson I learned and would like to share is that even if you have never had issues passing airport security, you should always travel with a letter from your doctor to ensure you never run out of sugar in the air.
