Miss New Hampshire – With a Smile and a Dexcom!

Caroline Carter was recently crowned Miss New Hampshire and is scheduled to compete in the Miss America 2016 pageant. Unlike all the other candidates, Carter carries with her a special trait: her Type 1 diabetes. Currently 18 years old, she was diagnosed six years ago and has continued her preparation for events such as swimsuit talent and evening gown contests despite having diabetes. As a spokesperson for Medtronic and JDRF, Carter is an excellent advocate for diabetes and she makes sure to sport her Dexcom on the runway. “I always say that I don’t let diabetes stop me,” says Carter. “But working together, we can stop diabetes.”
